43 years, a few countries, plenty of detours. Every chapter lives somewhere in these shirts today.

It all started on the Baltic coast, born with sand between my toes, raised in Berlin. And Berlin taught me one thing early: don't talk about it, just do it. First sales, then the nights. I threw my own party series, ended up standing in my own club, and on the side built a beer garden with one of my best mates. Things were good. But sooner or later every “it's going well” turns into a question: is this really it?

So, backpack, one way ticket, no plan B. Australia. I sold pizza at festivals, drove across outback roads, posed with kangaroos, and somewhere in between I learned that the best ideas come when nobody's watching. “Someday” turned into “why not right now?”

Then Asia. In the Philippines, always one more hill. Up on Osmeña Peak you learn how little you actually need, and how much an honest smile is worth. Sri Lanka taught me to slow down: empty bays, tuk tuk dust in my hair, the best days were the ones with nothing planned. I wanted to bring that feeling home. I just didn't know how yet.

The moment came in Thailand. A white shirt from friends, one word across the back: FRIEDEN, German for peace. What it set off, the looks, the conversations, complete strangers stopping to talk, that's when it clicked: a shirt can be an attitude. You don't just wear fabric, you wear a message. Right there, HENK was born.

Today I run it from Málaga. New chapter, more light. No mass production, small drops instead. Organic cotton from Portugal, a heavy 240GSM, honest to the touch. Screen printed in Berlin, in small runs, drop by drop. No trends, nothing throwaway, shirts that say something and that you actually wear for years. That's exactly what HENK is.
